Logos can need updating over the years……. everything dates. Huge companies do this and so can you. The key is to remain true to your original foundation but in a fresh way.
Photographer Jon Tanberg was happy and liked the logo he had, however he felt that he needed to revamp the file, make it more modern, make it a vector file that can rescale cleanly rather than the bitmap original he had. He wanted to keep the complete tripod potentially as well.
I sketched, researched and fiddled a little bit until we arrived at this revised logo option. Wanted to change the font to something more masculine and modern. Updated the camera graphic by literally hand drawing this in Illustrator – which was fun! Based the design off of a modern ultra expensive camera model – I think it was a $15,000 camera body. Why not right? 😉 To integrate the tripod, which I didn’t love how it was hanging off the side in the original logo……. it was so obviously an ‘A’ !! So incorporated it into his name. Loved it.
Change can be hard to embrace – so he shared with his colleagues and friends on Facebook and came back to me with a big thumbs up!
Don’t be afraid to change – just do it with care.
