So excited to share with you the latest offering from Finao – the hybrid matt+flush combination album called the Finao nextONE.
I’ve been meaning to blog this for a LONG TIME but have been too busy designing to stop but today is that day! Is too good not to share.
This is an album that I designed for our own personal enjoyment (this is our own family!) ;D I’m eternally grateful to Finao for the opportunity to explore the workings of this fantastic new album. I have designed many hybrids before…. the Renaissance Galleria, Leather Craftsmen 8500/7500 and of course the Queensberry Duo.
I can say without out a doubt…. that the Finao nextONE album was my favorite by a landslide to design. No special software (for either designing or ordering), no standardized matt code PDFs to consult, no hard to figure out cutting fees per window, no charges for custom layouts. NOTHING. 100% CUSTOM. There are a few minor rules about how close photos can be to one another as in all matted products, but besides that most basic consideration – a DREAM. I can free design as I want it. Anything that is to be designate a matt – I color a particular magenta color. Any background left white = photograph.
It is a sleek album with straight edges, there are no funky hinges in the middle …. just a clean crease.
Our 15×10 landscape album has a gorgeous tactile red LOVE JUNKY (Fragments collection) dimensional suede and it is stunning to say the least. Amazing that a leather like this is considered ‘standard’ without extra charges.
The flush photographs are indeed flush edge to edge and the matted photographs are so beautifully laid next to the flush edges that it’s almost impossible to imagine how they can do it that well. The matt is thin in that you don’t have a thick bevel or anything like that on top of the photograph itself. What I really appreciate is that the matt is tightly adhered to the photograph – there is no give, no floppy window it’s secure and solid. I have seen other thinner matted books with ‘slip under’ type photographs have literally a window that you can almost life up and peek underneath. Unacceptable. The Finao nextONE is so superior in it’s construction. What is even more astonishing is that whether the center crease is a matt or a flush photograph…. it’s equally tight and clean. No cut, no hinge, nothing funny going on there but a normal crease as you would receive on the Finao ONE flush album product.

and yet, there is the matted page on top with the engraved key line surrounding all of the grouped images.

right hand side page. On the left hand page there is a grouping of small photos surrounding
which there is one engraved key line in the matt.
Each small square photography has it’s OWN engraved key line in the matt. They are farther a part to enable this detail. The matted pages will have an engraved elegant outline around the photos – either individually or as a grouping, depending on how close they are too one another.
The matt touches the flush photograph with precision, looks fantastic !!
Like a flush page… but has the tactile quality off a matt.

This shows when you have a letterbox panoramic flush design…. through the middle of the entire matted layout. Matt top and bottom. Flush photo ‘collage’ through the center region only. The white border spacing and the warm gray box are digital and in the photograph.

Have said this before, but Finao also has beautiful eco friendly packaging as well. The bow even has velcro so you can keep re-using it! (or sneak a peek at your clients album before shipping it off to them if you choose to not drop-ship.)
I highly recommend this album to you if you’re looking for an album that looks and feels high end, and is unlike what others in your area might be offering.
