I have designed many Renaissance Soho and Fine Art albums… but today I’m excited to share the first Galleria design I’ve worked on – and just ordered today for Danny Weiss Photo in New York.  The Renaissance Galleria album is unique because it is a combination matt + flush album.  This is a similar theory to the Leather Craftsmen Signature 8500 / 7500 line or the Queensberry Duo line, or Finao/Seldex’s Bookbound Art series.  Each company will have their own unique construction and pros-cons to this combo type album of course so please look at their websites if you’re interested and contact them – tell them HappyFish sent you. 🙂

If you aren’t familiar with what a matt+flush combo is…. it means that all ‘floating images’ will be mounted with traditional matt windows (either overlay like a window cut out …. or with a surface mounted photograph with a trim or liner piece for contrast – depends on the company.)

You will usually have a choice of what combo matt and liner-trim you like …. for example – you could do white matt with white trim-liner for an elegant fine art look – or do the same with black matt with black trim+liner or do something more colorful – like a brown matt with gold trim-liner…. or black matt with red trim-liner….. etc. the possibilities are endless. However, it doesn’t end there – you can have photos flush cut off to the very page edges as well in different combinations.  Different companies treat the center region differently but mostly these are modern, tight split beautiful albums. The best of both worlds – a fusion of contemporary sleek flush and and the fine art traditional craftsmenship. This type of album is perceived of as a very lovely, hand crafted high end album. MUCH more ‘high end’ than the average flush mount album simply because of it’s tactile qualities and more complex construction. Would be a great higher end product option for your clients.

For Danny, we’re ordering a 13×10 horizontal album with red Luxesuede with an inlaid 3.5 x 3.5 cameo image.  The matts are white, with white trim-liner. He wanted a fine art look and this wedding is SO colorful already – doesn’t need anything more.
