One of the things that we miss about Maui is the Okazuya in Honokowai on the Lower Road (Lower Honoapiilani Road.) For you photographers who are on Maui for a destination wedding, or just on vacation, you just HAVE to go there for lunch or dinner. Recommendations: Mahi with mushrooms and lemon capers. MMMMM. Get it with the rice, or mac salad – and the mixed veggies. Chad loves the teriyaki steak and the panko crusted mahi. He’d get it with double scoops rice and extra teriyaki sauce. The Kung Pao Chicken is also one of the best I’ve had. The food there is wonderful, the portions are huge, the fish is so perfect and fresh – and a fraction of what you would pay at an expensive restaurant. Okazuya is a teeny place that has line-ups out the door twice a day – get your styrofoam container (watch it doesn’t leak in your rental car – make sure that bag is tight and upright) and go to S-turns and enjoy the sunset, views of Molokai and Lanai, and the waves … wish I could be there now!!
How to get there? It’s about 4 mins. north of Kaanapali on the hwy (Honoapiilani hwy), just around the bend from the Star Market/shopping plaza. It’s on the right hand side of the road next to the Pizza Hut and AAAAA storage facility.
